2003 Makedonikos Red

Mellowed out by the house concert CD we arrived at the unimposing Athenae. Then--like stepping into Santorini: What a platter: roast lamb, shaved lamb, feta, strange unnameable things on the plate, the restaurant was just what you'd expect a landed Post-doctoral Fellow to recommend. The Greek wine, some sort of Hellenic Merlot from Macedonia, at the same latitude as California, simply hit the spot right on. Bottled by Evangelos Tsantalis from Halkidiki Greece.
