2000 Jacob's Creek Cabernet Sauvignon (Reserve)

"Sickly sweet, a girl's wine." A.D.: "Very sweet. Sugary No other throughts but sweet. Excessively sickly sweet. Typifies Australia. The big guys that play rugby, are OK, but this is a winging wine. A pretentious, sweet little wine that winges. It's crying out for attention. Attention that it doesn't deserve. Fuity, damselley; dansum like a plum. Should be shaken not stirred." The Ladies: "This one wins".

2001 Chateau la Tonnelle Haut Medoc

A Blind Taste Test at the Departure party prior to Jack and Mary's 50th Ann. Josephine: "Legless; lightish; with a slightly bitter aftertaste. I just made my cheeks go red; are my cheeks red? am I red? . . . . Ant: "A fairly bitter aftertaste, no red concern. Very acidic. L: "A little bitter; a different earthy smell (rather than bouquet). A.D.: an earthy, mildewey smell. You know the smell that you get when you walk into the forest?...Mike: "I like it." A.D.: "The woods are lovely, dark and deep, but I have appointments to keep. Ask not what your wine can do fo ryou ask what you can do for your wine. In this case, the sink would be appropriate. You know what the dog says? Ruff, ruff." Lala: "Bitter aftertaste."
